The selected films challenge the norms of the medium of 'film.
They explore contemporary approaches and perspectives to capture the essence of our current era in images.
In my view, 'classical' fiction is negligible; films that shy away from engaging with a reflection on the
turbulent world around us are insignificant. Conventional narratives give way to a fresh and innovative take on the medium,
one that does not always align with the traditional form of cinema. I aim for a shift—moving away from convention.
I envision creating a space where young experimental filmmakers and artists can find a breeding ground to meet, collaborate, and exchange ideas. For this project, I sought films that possess a sense of autonomy, capable of standing on their own within a space.
These are not films meant to be screened consecutively on a single screen but rather experienced repetitively in their individual spaces.
The works are designed to fit within the context of an exhibition and/or experiment with contemporary themes and aspects.
Specifically, I have looked for films that blur the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction—hybrid films that challenge the notion of
objectivity. These films should, therefore, incorporate documentary elements or at least address topics that reflect on contemporary times.
What I am looking for are "essayistic hybrid films.
